Become a Vendor

The Local Farm Cart vendors farm and create...

...and they leave the rest up to us!

Vendor FAQs

#1. HOW ARE ITEMS GATHERED FOR CUSTOMER PICKUP OR DELIVERY? Each week, on Tuesdays & Wednesdays, our vendors bring their sold items to our hub located at: 1004 4th Street, Lake Odessa, MI. From there, we pack the orders and customers pick up...or we deliver. (FYI- Customers pickup on Wednesdays & Thursdays.) If you have shelf stable items, it's possible we can hold those at our hub and fulfill those orders ourselves. Let's chat. Please note: Vendors who repeatedly (2+ times) fail to deliver their sold items will unfortunately risk losing their vendor status.

#2. WHAT IS THE COST TO JOIN? New vendors pay a one-time onboarding fee of $100 for their items to be placed on our site. This fee covers our time getting your products onto the website, including photos of your products. It also includes all future inventory updates. We then require 25% commission for sold items only. Feel free to price your products accordingly, while still being competitive. We try to keep it very low risk for you! We want you to thrive! What's in it for you? -An entire e-commerce website for your products that you don't have to maintain! Priceless! -We offer your customers a convenient pickup location and delivery -We provide customer service and keep you from scheduling random meet-ups and dealing with no-shows.  -We provide bags, labels, and more.

#3. MAY I DISCONTINUE MY VENDOR STATUS AT ANY TIME? Absolutely. We'd hate to see you go, but you're free to come and go as you wish. Please note, however, if you leave and come back later, the onboarding fee will apply.

#4. WHAT IF SEVERAL VENDORS ARE SELLING THE EXACT SAME PRODUCT AS ME? WILL I HAVE A CHANCE? We created a unique system within our website to weekly highlight repeated products by vendor. The highlights include popular products, such as ground beef. The product/vendor highlights are changed weekly so everyone has a fair chance.

#5. WHAT IF I'LL BE AWAY ON VACATION AND CAN'T DELIVER MY SOLD ITEMS TO THE SUB SPOT? Please make every effort to get coverage. However, if you'll be away and no one can step in for you, please let us know at least two weeks in advance. We will pause your products on the website so they're not visible for purchase. When you return, let us know and we'll make them visible again to customers. Please note: Vendors who repeatedly (2+ times) fail to deliver their sold items will unfortunately risk losing their vendor status.

#6. HOW WILL MY ONLINE INVENTORY BE TRACKED? You will need to set aside dedicated inventory for The Local Farm Cart. Upon onboarding, you will report your available inventory to us. As you get/make more inventory, report your additional numbers and we'll update the website. At no point should you reduce your inventory number with us. This creates a lot of busy work on our end.

#7. HOW AND WHEN WILL I GET PAID? Payments to vendors, minus commission and credit card processing fees, are made at the beginning of each month (1st-5th) via ACH bank transfer. Payments will be for the previous month's sales. Before your first payout, you will be sent a request to enter your bank account information through our system. At no time will your account # be shared with us.

#8. WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE THE LOCAL FARM CART ABOVE OTHER POSSIBLE COMPETING E-COMMERCE WEBSITES? -We're actually local. We care about this community and want to see farmers & makers thrive! -We make every effort to promote vendors local to our area (Lake Odessa, Caledonia, Middleville, Hastings, Lowell, Saranac, Freeport, Clarksville) - We carry not just food items, but gifts, art, herbal products, pet food, custom items, and more! -We promote local events related to farming, homesteading, entrepreneurship, and just being creative! - We connect local customers to available farm shares. - We promote other local creative and homestead services, like rototilling, photography. -We have specific customers in mind. We are not for everyone. Some customers may prefer to seek and find each vendor themselves. The Local Farm Cart is geared toward those who want and need the ease and convenience of having everything local in one place and getting it delivered.
